CIS Commodity Inspection Services was established in 1989, but its origins go back to 1872 when the company Harry A. Niessink B.V. took charge of inspecting barges and general cargo in Rotterdam Harbour. The business stayed in the family for generations, growing and expanding, but also building a network of professional relationships in the shipping industry around the world.

In 1989, CIS Commodity Inspection Services was established as a company. After providing services to several types of cargo, the decision was made to focus exclusively on shipping operations for agriculturally based products. The company is continually developing and offers a total service based on commitment and expertise.
